Welcome to the churches of Christ Tentmakers website. This site was created to encourage fellowship between the thousands of bivocational ministers that serve tirelessly in our churches across the world. There is not a lot on the site, but that will change with you. Here information is not filtered, judged or rated. Everyone has a voice here and everyone has something to contribute. Those contributions may help someone to get through their day or get through a sermon. New friendships can be made, especially between those of us who are a short distance from each other. Revivals or gospel meetings could take place between two small congregations close together if the ministers swapped the preaching duties. We are only limited by our creativity, so this has only scratched the surface of what this site can be for us.
We have a page for sermon contributions. There are many sites with sermons, but they may not be appropriate for our congregation. Many are also pay sites. Here, we will have sermons by church of Christ ministers for church of Christ ministers. Also, we will have a page for Sunday School material. There is a page for churches looking for ministers and one for ministers looking for a church. Smaller churches can target bivocational ministers by posting their needs on this site and bivocational ministers will find the right audience for their resume'. Other resources such as books written about small churches will be featured. What will make this a valuable resource is for those who have read them to comment on them. Our resources are limited and wasting time and money on something that is not valuable to us and our congregation will not help.
At the bottom of this page is a form for demographic information. Gathering this information will help us to assess our current situation and lend weight to our voice. Let me say first that email addresses are not sold and are kept private. Additionally demographic information will only be shared in general terms only such as number of congregations growing, declining, stable, etc. They may be grouped geographically such as by state. Information is power. The more we gather the better we can be at observing trends and assessing needs.
The blogging section will provide a forum for all to discuss what is on their mind. We can certainly learn and be encouraged by each other. We can share our ups and downs. Hopefully, more ups than downs. However, it will not happen without you. Now, lets get started.
